Designing your character's looks

Dressing your Myrddin Emrys College character

A quick look through some of our students stunning outfits!

Dressing your character is an exciting and creative journey that, although it may seem a little overwhelming, can be super fun! Let's start at the very beginning: by envisioning the look or vibe you'd like your character to have. In this blog post we will guide you towards that magical wardrobe you've always dreamed of.

So come on, let's dive into the fun and let your imagination run wild!

Tip #1 - Make A Moodboard!

Making a moodboard is an amazing way to start the process! We love to use Pinterest to make a board filled with inspiring outfit ideas and an overall aesthetic. But, if you're feeling extra creative, you could also go with a hand made DIY moodboard, using old school scissors and glue! Either way, allowing your imagination to run wild and save as much inspiration as you possibly can.

Tip #2 - Wigging It?

To wig or not to wig: that's the question. Using a wig can really help you transform into someone else! If you want to change your haircolor, hairlength, or if you want a crazy hairstyle that'll take hours in the morning, a wig can help you achieve that in a matter of minutes!

Tip #3 - Get Organized!

Okay, so you got inspired, but now you probably have a Pinterest board with WAY too many different ideas... Let's sort out all these different ideas into categories, making sure every inspirational picture finds a place. Categories you could use are things like "dark academia", "classic elvish", "steampunk", "cottage core", etc. Don't let yourself be limited by these examples though!

Tip #4 - Shopping Time!

Now comes the hardest part... Finding all your costume pieces! With your moodboard in hand, go hunting for pieces that really catch the right vibe. In a next blog post, we'll share some tips and tricks on where you can go, but scavenging the internet for the right costume pieces can really feel like a treasure hunt already!

Tip #5 - The Final Touch!

Our final tip would be to try your costume(s) on beforehand, to see if they might be missing something. Sometimes all you need is another belt, a beautiful necklace, or some other minor detail to make your look perfect!

Good luck!

Don't worry about having to make everything perfect. It's your character, and you can dress them whichever way you want! And pssst, a tiny secret... This might also be the perfect opportunity to try out that clothing style you've always been too shy to try! Good luck, and don't forget to show us the results on Discord!
